Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em

I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book. —  Groucho Marx

If I had a big ol' cigar and much bushier eyebrows, would anyone listen to me or would they just turn up the sound on the set?

I can still feel some rankling around the edges when I recall that my husband, some twenty years ago, bought "me" a new television for Christmas. Ha. As if.

Except, admittedly, for the science shows. I still and will always miss being able to turn to him and say, "Wow. Is that cool or what?"

Why I Do What I Do

I'm about to give in to being more reader and critic than writer.

When I do write, I don't do it to for publication, because creativity is all about intrinsic motivation.

If you want to motivate me, don't volunteer your judgments. Don't give me awards. Just give me examples to follow IF it suits me to do so. And take what I have to offer IF it suits you to do so.

Just do your thing. Never mind about my thing. And between us, we'll have it all covered.

Real Life

This is not a test.
Do not take notes.
This is the ocean for real.

Surf, drown,
teethe on coral.
Dare to breathe
through gills.
